Guess what! Prey starring John Simm now has an air date!
It’ll be on ITV on Monday 28th April at 9PM and yours truly will definitely be blogging about it. Watch this space, and lets hope ITV live up to their usual standards when it comes to drama.

Gone Girl: Trailer

Yesterday I posted the teaser poster for Gone Girl, and today I found the trailer! Enjoy, I’m looking forward to the release in October and this trailer has made me want to read the book by Gillian Flynn, although according to sources there’s a reworked ending. Let’s hope it lives up to it’s bestseller status.

Gone Girl: Teaser Poster

So we finally get a teaser poster for Gone Girl, the film adaption of Gillian Flynn’s book of the same name. It’s directed by David Fincher (the man who brought us The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and, of course, Fight Club) and stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike as the leading roles. The book’s a bestseller, and I haven’t had the pleasure of reading it yet, but I’m quite excited for the release of the film, even just judging it by the clever movie poster alone. Not just that, but Neil Patrick Harris has a role – what’s not to love?

It’s looking set to be released October 2014.

Only Lovers Left Alive: Review

ONLY-LOVERS-LEFT-ALIVE

I was lucky enough to spot this gem and find out whereabouts it was being shown near me. I was even luckier that the Errol Flynn Filmhouse (which I have yet to blog about – whoops!) was showing it. This is a bit of a late review, as I saw the film in March time, but it’s definitely one to write about. Directed by Jim Jarmusch, whose work includes Dead Man and Broken Flowers, Only Lovers Left Alive is about the romance between two vampires, one being the ever-knowing Eve (played by the always fantastic Tilda Swinton) and the other Adam, her morose, music-loving counterpart (the brilliant Tom Hiddleston).

Guilty Pleasure TV

33-tv-window-graffitiWe all have a few guilty pleasures. I have several, from putting anything possible in a sandwich – I’m including pasta in that – to secretly enjoying crap television. Guilty pleasure television is awesome, and there’s nothing better than sitting down to waste five hours watching some of the most godawful shows and secretly loving it. It’s the pixelated version of a greasy burger and cheesy chips; you know you shouldn’t be eating it, you know it’s bad, but it’s so damn good. Here’s a list of my top guilty pleasure TV shows.

Lucy: Trailer

Wowee. If I wasn’t on enough of a Scarlett Johansson hype, here’s another one for you.

Lucy is directed by Luc Besson and stars Johansson and Morgan Freeman. The titular character is forced into being a drugs mule when a package of drugs is inserted into her stomach, however the package begins to leak and she starts to develop some pretty kickass abilities as her brain starts to operate at a higher level than normal.

It’s another one that looks like it’s going to be a good’un, pretty darn action-packed and will be released August 2014.

Under the Skin: Trailer

I am so excited for this one. So, so excited.

Here’s the trailer for Under the Skin, the new offering from Jonathan Glazer and starring Scarlett Johansson as an alien seducing the good folks of Scotland. This dark little sci-fi from Clevver Movies looks set to be excellent, and quite different from anything I’ve seen Johansson in (barring Her, which I reviewed here, all I’d really seen her in was rom-coms). I’ll hopefully be going to my favourite cinema to see this soon, so watch this space.

New Worlds: Trailer and Episode One Review

New-Worlds-Channel-4-3296060

So Channel 4 have begun broadcasting a new historical drama called New Worlds. It’s the televisual sequel to The Devil’s Whore, which puts me at a bit of a disadvantage, due to not watching it, however, it looks interesting enough to pick up. New Worlds is set in the 1680s, following plots set in two locations, England and America. It stars Freya Mavor, Joe Dempsie, Jamie Dornan, Eve Best, Jeremy Northam and Alice Englert.

Prey: A New ITV Drama

So I caught flashes of this trailer last night and decided to have a look into it today. I may have a biased love for John Simm after he appeared in Doctor Who, but either way, this one’s looking to be quite good. There’s not a lot so far about this on ITV’s site (make that zilch), so I’ve just provided the extract from their Youtube channel.

Police Man, Family Man, Wanted Man.

Prey, a brand new drama starring John Simm is coming to ITV this spring. We follow the story of a DS Marcus Farrow (Simm), a well like policeman on the run, wrongly accused of murder, desperate to clear his name for the sake of his family.

Narrowly escaping police custody Farrow becomes an outlaw and begins a high-stakes game of cat and mouse across the city with Acting Detective Chief Inspector Susan Reinhardt (Rosie Cavaliero). As a wanted killer, Farrow has few allies, however one thing is certain, for the sake of his family, Farrow is prepared to do things he never thought possible. And he won’t rest until he knows the truth.

Also starring Craig Parkinson, Anastasia Hille and Adrian Edmondson.

I’ll definitely be following this one up.
